Just donate."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border: 0pt none; margin: 4px;\" title=\"Fallen Soldiers\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/d\/de\/USCasualtiesC130DoverAFB.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"112\" \/>The latest <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2009\/11\/01\/limbaugh-obama-visit-dover-base-photo-op\/\">Fox blather<\/a> has Rush Limbaugh claiming that President Obama went to Dover AFB to get a photo op, instead of to honor the fallen troops who arrived there.\u00a0 To which I say: <em>whatever.<\/em> First of all, I had no problem with the President honoring the fallen by going to Dover.\u00a0 Contrary to many liberal Democrats, I also had no problem with President Bush <em>not<\/em> going to Dover.\u00a0 He chose instead to visit with the families of the dead soldiers instead.\u00a0 I think it&#8217;s those families that matter, and not me in those circumstances.\u00a0 What I had a problem with, was the Bush administration applying a blanket rule, outlawing press photographs of caskets.\u00a0 It seems to me that it should, once again, be left to the families of those\u00a0 involved.\u00a0 As it was, it also seemed to me that President Bush was attempting to downplay the number of people who died in Iraq.\u00a0 That number stands at <strong>4,355<\/strong>, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icasualties.org\/\">icasualties.org<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/casualties\/\">antiwar.com<\/a>.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s also keep in mind the other <strong>31,545<\/strong><strong><\/strong> Americans who were injured, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.\u00a0 In looking for sites to donate to the benefit of soldiers and their families, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fisherhouse.org\/\">Fisher House<\/a> is one that people tend to mention, but I wonder what other people think.\u00a0 Donating seems to me the appropriate way to comment on this otherwise rabid nonsense.\u00a0 I also wonder how much Rush Limbaugh has donated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest Fox blather has Rush Limbaugh claiming that President Obama went to Dover AFB to get a photo op, instead of to honor the fallen troops who arrived there.\u00a0 To which I say: whatever.
